Fund Overview

Regenera Ventures I is a women-led impact investment fund backing the transition to regenerative management and climate adaptation in rural productive ecosystems in Mexico. The fund invests in climate-resilient, nature-positive solutions while prioritizing gender-diverse and inclusive organizations. Regenera Ventures I targets key environmental challenges, such as soil depletion, ecosystem degradation, biodiversity loss, and water scarcity, alongside structural inequalities that increase climate vulnerability and negatively affect financial and health outcomes in rural communities. Its focus on equity and social justice in rural Mexico promotes land ownership and local employment for women, creating pathways for women to lead in the shift toward a regenerative economy.

Why We Invested

Regenera Ventures I has an integrated climate and gender analysis embedded in all aspects of their investment strategy and process. Backed by an established and women-led impact advisory partner, the fund benefits from strong fund administration, investor networks, and a proven track record in scaling impact enterprises. Its integrated climate and gender thesis focuses on enabling Mexico’s regenerative agriculture transition to enhance climate resiliency and adaptation, promote carbon sequestration and emissions reduction, and advance social equity, especially for women in rural and underserved regions. The fund is 100% women-led, with 75% of the investment team and a majority of the Investment Committee composed of women.

Women as Agents of Change

Regenera Ventures I demonstrates a clear alignment with Heading for Change’s Women as Agents of Change framework, as reflected in their interest in investing in companies where women are the primary drivers of key regenerative initiatives, including landscape diversification, biodiversity restoration, and the enhancement of ecosystem health. Empowering women and Indigenous communities is a core priority for the fund. It recognizes the leadership potential of women smallholder farmers and Indigenous communities in the regenerative movement and supports them to drive regenerative practices in their communities, strengthening local ecosystems and increasing adaptability to climate impacts.

Part of the Regenera’s team has supported Tierra del Monte in referencing key potential clients and have helped in the development of: Guardians of the Earth, a program working with women in rural agricultural communities to build community and understand how current farming practices impact women, local ecosystems, and biodiversity. Tierra del Monte also developed training on agricultural products tailored for women, aiming to increase their involvement in decision-making and close the competence gap, ensuring they gain technical expertise equal to their male counterparts and promoting equity in regenerative agriculture through the Guardians of the Earth.
